On Wednesday, Amboli police arrested a scriptwriter and director from the television industry for allegedly defrauding a film producer of Rs 2.65 crore. The accused, Mahesh Pandey, known for his work on the popular TV soap "Kasauti Zindagi Ki," was charged with breaching the terms of a project agreement, causing significant financial loss to the complainant, according to police.

Mahesh Pandey was taken to court on Thursday and placed in judicial custody. The arrest followed a complaint by film producer Jatin Sethi. Sethi claimed that Pandey was supposed to pay him Rs 2.5 crore for a project as per their agreement but never received the money.

Sethi further alleged that Pandey had no intention of paying and created a fake email ID to pretend he had contacted Prasar Bharti to release the payment. Despite receiving the funds from Prasar Bharti, Pandey did not pay Sethi and falsely claimed he was working to clear the payment, according to another police source.
